Soccer Season is on....Go Sharks!!!

Jed had his first game last week for the new season with NYS (National Youth Sports). They had two games in a row and the kids did great. Thank goodness the games are only 45 mintues long and they rotate the kids in and out frequently. We have great coaches this year and Jed is especially excited because he is on the same soccer team with his buddy John.

We went to Utah last week for my Aunt Helen's Funeral. Mike drove up with me and Jed and then ended up flying home on Sunday. We left on Thursday morning and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott downtown for a few days and then stayed with my parents for the rest of the time.

It was nice to see family that I hadn't seen in a long time at the funeral. My brother, Roger, gave an excellent talk at the funeral. All together it was very nice. We got lost on the way to the mortuary and so we missed the prayer. Of course! My cousin, Aubrie, made my Aunt Helen's famous peanut brittle. It was so good!

On Easter morning I set out Jed's Easter basket in front of our hotel door. He opened the door and was so excited. He said, "The Easter Bunny left me all these things to remind me of Jesus. I love my Easter basket." It was funny. We were just talking to Jed the day before about Easter and why we celebrate it, etc. I told Jed that the Easter bunny gives us things in our Easter basket so that we can remember Jesus and what he did for us. Apparently he got it!

We went to church with my parents in their ward. And after church enjoyed a nice and delicious meal by Marian. It was yummy. Afterwards, Mike had to leave for the airport. Amanda, my niece, Jed and I went to Laura's house to go on a walk with her and her dog Lucy. It was a nice long walk.

Monday Amanda came with me to visit my friends from my old neighborhood and ward. It was so fun seeing them. We got lunch at Haagermans and then headed over to Storm Mountain Park so the kids could play. It was so windy! But the kids didn't mind at all. Afterwards, Julie offered to take Jed home with her so Amanda and I could go shopping. Awesome! When we went to pick up Jed he did NOT want to leave. He was having too much fun playing with Britt.

Amanda and I went to see a movie Monday night, Bride Wars, and then got an Arctic Circle shake afterwards. Yummy!

Tuesday morning we left around 7:45am. We stopped in St. George and ate at Cafe Rio! We then stopped at State Line and went shopping for a while. We then stopped again in Rancho Cucamonga at the new Tai Pan Trading store. Of course I ended up spending more!!!

Anywho...thanks to Amanda for driving home with me. It was great to spend some time with her and have her added help as well. She had to deal with Jed while I was driving!

Hopefully next time I will be able to stay longer...I had to get home so my house could get painted...pictures to come!

We're Approved!!!

Just want to announce that a few weeks ago we were approved for adoption through LDS Family Services. I want to give you all information just in case you come across someone who is needing to place a child for adoption.

The exact web address to our profile is:

We also have a blog just for potential birth parents who want to know more about us. We have it listed on our LDS profile, but will list it here as well as another avenue for them to find out about us.

Our blog: www.janetandmikestory.blogspot.com

Update: We are still in the process of going through the county. We are halfway there. We still have one more adoption class and our homestudy and then we will be finished! We'll keep you all posted!

Thanks!

So once again we had a great time going to Disneyland. It is so nice to be able to go and spend the day there and then come home. But I must say that I was really tired the next day. We did a lot of walking and Jed still keeps me on my toes.

After 3 rounds of Space Mountain I think that pretty much makes you want to lie down and rest. We had a lot of fun and were ready to go home by the end of the day.

Lisa's mom, Janey, drove up with us, so that was nice to have someone to talk to in the car. She was brave and went on all the rides with us!

Our Official Utah Trip came and went so fast. We arrived in Utah on Wednesday, the 14th and came home on Tuesday, the 20th. It seemed like the week went by so fast. Just a quick summary of the trip.
Wednesday night: Arrived in Utah. Plane was delayed-brake sensor light on! Arrived an hour later.
Thursday: Shopping Day! I went to Rod Works, Sweet Briar Hollow, Quilted Bear, Tai Pan, etc. Met up w/ Jen Searle and girls at Quilted Bear. Ate dinner that night with Laura and Matt Hemsley at Paradise Bakery.
Friday: Shopping at Shade Clothing store, dropped off Jed at Searle's house so I could go to lunch with my friends from Sandy! Ate at Cafe Rio. Went back to Searles and hung out for a while. Went out to dinner at Cheesecake factory with Laura. Went to a movie, "Ghostown" at the $1 theater.
Saturday: Went to find snow boots, went sledding with Laura and her dog Lucy. Stopped by the vacuum shop, went through the Draper Temple open house with Jed (great experience). Hung out with Sandy neighbors (from my old neighborhood) and went to Bajio for dinner with them and then to a frozen yogurt place called "Frogurt."
Sunday: Went to church at my old ward. Hung out at home and had dinner with my family.
Monday: Hung out with Kath Bartschi, Emily Weaver, and Jen Searle and kids. We went to Classic Skating to go on the bouncy houses and the jungle. The kids also got tokens to play games and get tickets and prizes! We went to Fuddruckers for lunch and then headed home. I then went shopping some more and came home for dinner w/ my parents.
Tuesday: Packed my suitcases and hung out at my parents house and then came home!
It was a great week. As you can see I did so many fun things!

GO BARRACUDAS!!!

Jed Playing goalie
THE TEAM & COACHES

On the field
The Proud Parents

Grandma Downey and Jed

Jed is now officially in sports! We signed him up with NYS (National Youth Sports) on a 4/5 year old team and he is enjoying it a lot. He had his first practice on Thursday night and his first game this morning at 8:00am!

It was really funny watching the kids play. They had no clue (or most of them at least) how to play and it was just fun to watch.

Jed played goalie (like his dad in high school...ha ha) and loved it!!! He had a lot of fun because he was in charge of making sure that the ball did not go into the goal. He did get pretty tired towards the end of the game, though! That is a good thing, right??? Why do we put our children in sports in the first place....to tire them out so they will be calm and sleep at night. And I guess to teach them good sportsmanship and being a team player, etc..

Guess you figured out the team name..........GO BARRACUDAS!!!
